Support Easter Seals Camp Horizon in Bragg Creek
Here's a message I received. Feel like donating to a worthy cause? Chip in here.
-----------------------------------------------------
Hi Everyone:
On September 8th @12:45 pm I will be repelling down the side of Sutton Place Hotel for Easter Seals, BUT in order for me to do it I need your help.
I need to raise $1,500 before they will let me do it. And with your generous donation I will. (Electronic Tax deductible receipt issued). If you are unable to donate on line you can do it the old fasion way by filling out a pledge sheet. (Let me know)
Money raised from the Drop Zone will help Albertans with disabilities and special needs get the equipment they need to live a more independent life. It also supports the Easter Seals Camp Horizon in Bragg Creek. For more information on their programs and services, please check out the website at www.easterseals.ab.ca.
Please follow the link below and any amount you can donate will ge me closer to my goal. For donations of $500, I will wear advertising. For a $1,500 donation I will wear whatever you tell too (No birthday suits this is a family event!)
If you know of anyone else who would like to donate please pass this link on. That would be much appreciated.
So on September 8th look up in the sky for the A-Team or Adventure Team. (Angie & myself). "Its a bird, its a plane, no its the other Kent!”
If this sounds like a cool thing to do, you can join our team and do it with us, or if want to come watch us we welcome the support.
Thanks again for your support,
Audrey Kent

ICE - In Case of Emergency
Just entered an entry into my cell phone contacts list under "ICE" for In Case of Emergency. What a good idea. My uncle Ron is a paramedic and he might find this interesting.
"By entering the acronym ICE – for In Case of Emergency – into the mobile’s phone book, users can log the name and number of someone who should be contacted in an emergency."
Visit Have you got ICE in your mobile? for more info.

Search aims to aid world poverty
Rectifi provides search tools similar to those of Google and Yahoo but with a crucial difference.
The profit generated from sponsored links, where companies pay for a place in the search rankings, will go to charity.

US activism site:
Please tell 10 friends to tell 10 today! It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle). This does not cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. www.thebreastcancersite.com - via Kathy |

Rebuilding Albert's
![]() | On my way home I passed the site on Whyte Ave where Albert's restaurant burnt down in a fire in March 2003. A construction crew is busy rebuilding it and everyday more goes up. Southside Sound was also affected and now are located a couple of blocks from the site. |

Global Visions volunteer opp
| Note from the organizers of the Global Visions Film Festival:
"The Global Visions Film Festival (November 5-9, 2003) is just around the corner, and we are looking for a few more volunteers to help us make the Festival a success. Join us in Edmonton's downtown core from November 5-9, 2003, to see some fantastic documentary films, meet great, open-minded people, and learn more about the world we live in. Positions are still available in a variety of areas, including box office and ushering, set up and tear down, parties, general help (schlepping), volunteer hospitality, and the Festival Marketplace. Volunteer shifts are generally 4-5 hours - mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Volunteers who work a minimum of 8 hours will receive a Festival Six-Pack (tickets to any six screenings of their choice), a one-year membership in the Global Visions Festival Society, a Global Visions T-Shirt, and a volunteer wrap-up party on Sunday, November 9. Please contact Keri or Anna for more info: (780) 414-1052 |

Adbusters newest campaign
From the inventors of Buy Nothing Day and TV Turnoff Week comes
Unbrand America (www.unbrandamerica.org) and Rethink the cool: the unswoosher (http://blackspotsneaker.org)
"In the coming months a black spot will pop up everywhere . . . on store windows and newspaper boxes, on gas pumps and supermarket shelves. Open a magazine or newspaper - it's there. It's on TV. It stains the logos and smears the nerve centers of the world's biggest, dirtiest corporations.
This is the mark of the people who don't approve of Bush's plan to control the world, who don't want countries "liberated" without UN backing, who can't stand anymore neo-con bravado shoved down their throats.
This is the mark of the people who want the Kyoto Protocol for the environment, who want the International Criminal Court for greater justice, who want a world where all nations, including the U.S.A., are free of weapons of mass destruction, and who pledge to take their country back."
