Happy New Year's Eve 2004
|
Went to the Fiddler's Roost Open Stage for NYE. It was a nice casual evening with friends and music. A great way to bring in 2004.
When I got home there was message from M begging me to pick him up from his drunken crazy gig. So I did - it really sucked. I was tired and hungry and not up to dealing with a bunch of drunken guys. I've been in a bad mood since. Just can't shake it. |

Fiddler's Roost
Well, went to the Fiddler's Roost last night for the open stage and had a good time.
J-bird, moi, Sheila and Don
I am still experimenting with using a mic, it's hard to know how it really sounds and if the balance is good, especially with three part harmonies. We gave it our best shot and played: Sitting Alone in the Moonlight, Your Love is Like a Flower and The Road Into Town. Afterwards we went and checked out the open stage at Tim's Grill. It was a howl, we had no idea what kind of reception we would get but everyone was very welcoming. The stage was very tiny, it was a bit of a struggle to get all of us up there. Dan Meunier managed to mic us up with only two sm58 vocal mics. Not bad - thanks Dan! We enjoyed ourselves, it was good stepping out and paying some dues. Tonight we are going to visit Bob at Cargo and James. Wish us luck. |

Music plans
|
My wonderful musical plans for this week:
Fiddler's Roost Open Stage tonight (8906-99 St. 461-1358) with WildWood Flower (J-Bird, Sheila and me). Tomorrow night, we're probably hitting the Open Stage at Cargo & James Tea House, 10634 Whyte Ave. Hosted by Bob Robichaud. Wednesday night, of course is the Bluegrass jam at Pleasantview. Next Friday, the Full Moon Folk Club is presenting a concert by The Wailin' Jennys. Next Saturday, a bunch of us are going to the Eric and Leon Bibb concert at The Arden. Looks like a great week! Doncha just love concert season? Maybe I'll see you around. |
