Calgary Folk Fest 2006
I am off today to the Calgary Folk Fest. It's my fourth year and I am glad I am going even though I will be missing a lot of fantastic things that are going on this weekend (like a going away party for Brad and Dawn, the NBCMS workshop with Lost Highway and the benefit concert on Sunday where Marshall and Lost Highway (and many others) will be playing). Every year it is such a busy weekend with lots to do but once I get there I always have a great time and hear amazing music.
The group that I am hoping to see the most is Ronnie Hayward and His Trio. I have a copy of The Lost Utrecht Sessions and really enjoy his bass playing. It's inspiring to see someone play the dawghouse so well.
I am particularly looking forward to seeing the D. Rangers again. And seeing Macy Gray, Tim Hus, Kris Kristofferson, The Roches, Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band and Dar Williams. And of course hearing tons of new music that I have never heard before. It's sooo good.
