Gogoi's Check Up

We brought Gogoi to the vet today for his check up. Dr. Pam Gordy (THE bird doctor here in Edmonton) gave him the thumbs up - he's healthy and doing great. We decided to finally get him sexed. It is impossible to tell what gender a Red Lored Amazon parrot is just by how they look. So we signed up for a DNA sexing test which is a blood test. We should know if Gogoi is a boy or girl in a couple of weeks.

Weenie Campbell - Country Blues Internet Radio

We went with a bunch of friends last night to the Shemekiah Copeland/Buddy Guy concert and had a great time. It's been snowing like crazy - thanks to Sanford for pushing out Kathy and Mike's PT Cruiser. Had a great time - thanks guys!

Marshall discovered a great Country Blues Internet Radio called Weenie Campbell. We are curled up listening to Blind Willie McTell singing I Got To Cross The River of Jordan watching more snow fall and drinking a nice cup of Earl Grey.

Victoria Yoga/Spa Weekend

Next weekend Carol and I are meeting in Victoria for a Yoga/Spa weekend. Can't wait - I feel like I haven't seen her for ages. And a few days of hanging out with her, yoga and good food is exactly what I need.

So I am exploring the web trying to find some fun things to do. So far I have found two yoga studios that look good:

MokSana Yoga

The Yoga Shala

Are there any restaurants, must dos or concerts that anyone recommends from March 10-12?

Octavia Butler passes away

Octavia Butler who is one of my favourite authors passed away this past weekend. Her trilogy Lilith's Brood is my favourite sci-fi book. More about her passing at the Chicago Tribune. Her genius will be greatly missed.

Mon Petit Blond

From my Aunt Denise (finally a blonde man joke):

The sheriff in a small town walks out in the street and sees a blond cowboy coming down the walk with nothing on but his cowboy hat, gun and his boots, so he arrests him for indecent exposure.

As he is locking him up, he asks, "Why in the world are you dressed like this"? The cowboy says: Well it's like this Sheriff.... I was in the bar down the road and this pretty little redhead asks me to go out to her motor home with her...so I did.

We go inside and she pulls off her top and asks me to pull off my shirt...so I did. Then she pulls off her skirt and asks me to pull off my pants...so I did. Then she pulls off her panties and asks me to pull off my shorts...so I did.

Then she gets on the bed and looks at me kind of sexy and says, "Now, go to town, Cowboy...."

And here I am.

Daily Frail - Learn Frailing Banjo

The Daily Frail is an amazing podcast on how to learn frailing (or as I call it flailing) banjo. Pat and Patrick Costello offer mp3s for download that teach you the basics. They also offer blues guitar tips.
